The Rodeo Clown

I have been busy sculpting.... and I have made a Rodeo Clown.... He was fun to make.
I was watching Jack Johnston Dvd at the time..... and he emerged from the clay.
We dont have access to Prosculpt clay as easy as you do in America.   Mr Johnston emailed me as one on his email list and advertised his May sale..... So I bit the bullet and ordered some.   This clay is an awesome clay, I have never used a clay with so much ease and maleability before... it is an awesome clay.....

He has a little bird and a flower on his hat.  He will come with a copy of the Rodeo Prayer.
His hoop skirt is to attract the bulls attention away from the Rodeo Rider.... these men are champions, athletes and possibly the most gutsy men around... I take my hat off to them.
He is made over a strong wire armature and his body has been needle felted with needle felted clothes and obviously a hoop with multi coloured dangles......
I hope you like him.....

Other Awesome sites......

There are other sites available to the learner.  Ooakdollart.com is an extremely friendly forum who nurtures and helps the beginner with an extremely friendly artist base.  Tenderspirit has only just lately made it a paid site but it has been going for years before financially it is costing more to keep it going.... so $2.00 per month or $20.00 per year is a real cheap price for such a forum.  The fact that the forum has been going for so long the learner will have lots of articles to go back and research from within the site.  The Virtual Gallery is awesome for any artist because you can request a pose if it isnt in the multitude of poses already in the database.  This alone was worth more than $20.00 per year... I was subscribed to the virtual gallery and enjoyed the benefits immensely.....
So if you are just learning sculpting or you have been looking for some new sites... please try ALL the sites I have recommended as they all have something different to offer.....

An awesome free site for making Ball jointed dolls

Today we will explore  a site that has the most useful information for free.....
This site is best viewed if you download Google Chrome because Google will translate it
for you.  I just love the 2 buttons.... translate...... nope... had to laugh... but I must admit
I did laugh at the translation it is sooo funny.  So we are getting awesome information for FREE and a good laugh as well... how good is that!   It takes away all the bad feelings for the Ball Jointed Doll.... after all  they are not to blame.....
Ami-doll.....http://www.aimi-doll.com/howto/index.html

I believe that this type of Ball jointed doll was not meant for Polymer Clay.  The Polymer Clay gets too heavy in the body and head area and will not balance properly.  Your planning and construction of this type of doll should be based around balance.  Paperclay is an extraordinary medium because it is strong and it is light.  Some artists are now converting their sculpting from Polymer Clay over to Paperclay..... Nefer Kane is one amazing artist who is sucessfully changing to this medium.....

If you have any questions or would like me to do a post on anything that is challenging you at the moment...please ask as I am only here to help.....

Who do you trust?

After the dilemma in the past weeks, artists have been left with a bad taste in their mouths.
Just who do you trust?   The best way for an artist to learn new skills is to join a guild or to pay for a guild.  Or just purchase an artists tutorial.  I have purchased one tutorial and received the information completely..... from Cheri Desiree.  The tutorial was sculpting a baby,  every detail was added and you did get all of the tutorial..... Some I have purchased you are about to get to the eye section and oh..... it has already been done... funny about that! The artist in that case only wants the money for the tutorial and not to teach as they say in their sales talk.

Now a paying Guild is dependent on the Artist to regularly post on  it...... It is a big responsibility on the Artist, but I believe they should not open a guild to paying customers unless they are totally committed.
There are forums that are totally free.  The sense of community is very valuable on these forums.  Some people can ask a question and have their question answered properly without fear of feeling silly... All  artists have to start somewhere and it is hard to get your head around the beginning stages of the sculpt....
A very friendly forum for the learning Artist
Woodland Earth Studio      Artists have recently joined this site to all get together and work out how to finish the Ball Jointed Doll that everyone has paid for but the Artist has decided not to post the final stage.  Buyer beware of  the Artist with a desire to scam money from anywhere and everywhere. If you ask questions you will find out who she is. Her reputation does preceed her.....
